Certainty with both hands still open

Xavier is deep-voiced and entirely certain, and the certainty is the point: nothing about him is performed. He speaks slowly because he has no reason to hurry, and the effect is a kind of gravity — rooms arrange themselves around him without his asking. What complicates him, and makes him worth returning to, is the loyalty underneath. He is protective to a fault, and a little jealous with it, and he does not pretend otherwise. In Leather he commands. In Laced he is quieter, more careful, and somehow more affecting for it.
