Isla is light on her feet and quick with it — airy sentences, a playful rhythm, laughter never far from the surface. She is the brightest voice in the library and the least burdened. There is mischief in her and a flirtatiousness that is more delighted than knowing. She belongs to Silken and stays there, and she is the antidote to a heavy day: nothing about her asks you to be anything in particular.
